Ocean Dunes is a community consisting of 196 condos/townhouses situated in Kure Beach, North Carolina (the Cape Fear area in Southeastern NC). We are located at the southern end of Pleasure Island, next to Historic Fort Fisher. We have nearly a mile of beachfront with extensive grounds. Amenities include three outdoor pools, a children's playground, tennis courts, a basketball court and a shuffleboard court. Our recreation center has an indoor pool, whirlpool/spa, gym, saunas, and showers, as well as an owners' lounge/meeting room with large-screen TV (available for rent). We are 2 miles from downtown Kure Beach and 5 miles from Carolina Beach and shopping/attractions and about 20 miles from downtown Wilmington. Nearby are Historic Fort Fisher, the North Carolina Aquarium, Kure Beach Pier, Carolina Beach boardwalk and rides, Carolina Beach State Park, the Fort Fisher-Southport ferry and Fort Fisher State Recreation Area.

Hurricane Dorian has passed without making landfall here and with minimal damage to Ocean Dunes. The electricity was out for about 17 hours, and we lost some shingles with winds up to 74 mph, but the beach and dunes are still there and protecting us. The Fort Fisher - Southport Ferry won't be operating for a few months. Non-hurricane related -- it has a mechanical ramp problem.
